Pruna is a typically Spanish whitewashed village set in the most beautiful countryside surrounded by field after field of olives. The village has approx 3,000 inhabitants, of which most families have lived there for generations. It has an easy going, laid back way of life, with numerous shops, bars and restaurants among some of the orange and lemon tree lined streets. It’s like turning back the clock, with the ladies sitting on their doorsteps, chatting while the children play safely and the men folk congregate in the main square.
The village has expanded over the past few years with a small English community and even an English bar (Alba’s) and an English run restaurant (the Miramar). Throughout the year you can watch and take part in several fiestas / processions such as Jan 6th (day of the 3 kings), Semana Santa (Easter), Romeria (1st Sunday in May), local Ferria (usually mid-end August). as well as other random days throughout the year. The locals really know how to enjoy themselves and you will be made more than welcome to join in with anything they are celebrating.
It is perfectly situated for visiting different places of interest (some of which we have listed separately), and for the more active there are many places for walking, cycling, hang gliding, paragliding, fishing, rock climbing. If golfing is your sport you are less than 1 hour away from 2 fantastic courses of Antequera and Arcos de la Frontera. If these don’t take your fancy you can always go the coast where it is golfers paradise, with golf courses too numerous to mention.
Pruna is easily accessibly from 4 major airports, Seville and Jerez approx 60 mins, Malaga and Granada approx 90 mins. On these drives you see some of the most spectacular scenery surrounding the areas.
