Olvera is a town only 5 mins from Pruna and is overlooked by the prominent ruins of the monastery and castle, which are well worth a visit. It is quite a vibrant town with numerous bars, restaurants and shops. There is an English community in Olvera that has grown over the past few years; however the town still does retain its natural Spanish heritage. For the more active the Via Verde is worth a visit. An old railway track, some of which has a tarmac finish, is approx 38km long and is very popular with walkers and cyclists and is suitable for both experienced and inexperienced. The hotel at the start of the Via Verde has the facility to hire cycles if needed.
